How to introduce a new locker point to customers
Introducing a locker point means answering three questions straight away: which laundry provides the service, where the point is located and how to use it. SLC-WA coordinates the digital process, while the smart locker provides the place for drop-off and collection. Communication needs to connect these elements to the service that has actually been organised.
The locker’s visibility is one part of the project. Clear instructions, easily accessible terms and a clear contact for questions matter too.
Your laundry, beyond the shop.
A locker point can introduce the laundry to people who do not pass the shop. It provides a recognisable place to drop off and collect garments, bringing the service into people’s everyday routines.
At a sports centre, for example, users can drop off their garments before training and collect them on a later visit, after receiving the availability notification and during the specified access hours. The laundry’s name, logo and contact details help people recognise who provides the service.
Reaching the right contacts at a host site can be difficult for a laundry. LockerClean can help establish that contact and create opportunities for collaboration: when a host asks us for a locker, we can identify and select a suitable laundry to provide the service.
This work connects those who have the space with those who can provide the service, opening up opportunities that the laundry might struggle to access on its own. The collaboration is built around the host’s needs and the laundry’s capabilities, defining the project together.
Make the point and the laundry recognisable
Describe the location with useful directions for first-time visitors: the entrance, floor or area of the building. Check the route from the access point to the locker, also considering whether people can return to collect their garments.
The Partner Laundry’s name must be recognisable. The laundry sets the accepted garments, prices, turnaround times and terms, looks after the customer and receives their payment directly. LockerClean™ develops the software and coordinates the technology integration.
If the point is hosted elsewhere, agree with the host where to place the information and which channels to use to introduce the initiative.
Explain how to access the service
Readers need to know where to find the laundry’s terms and how to access the intended digital process. Use the official materials and instructions for the configuration in place, without replacing them with an improvised sequence.
On-site directions and online communication must be consistent: the same location, the same laundry and the same contact details. Check that any links lead to the correct access point and that the information is readable on a phone.
The location’s opening hours and the time windows shown by SLC-WA are two separate conditions. A point inside a closed building cannot be reached during those hours, even if the locker is operational.
Announce what is ready
Before making an announcement, agree the actual launch date and what will be available with everyone involved. Clarify the available services, the laundry’s collection and delivery visits, and the contacts for enquiries.
The service can be introduced at the counter, on the laundry’s website and through the host’s channels. Choose the channels that are relevant to the people using the point. A short message can link to the full information, without creating multiple versions of the terms.
If promotional initiatives are planned, describe them only after the laundry has defined how they work and when they apply.
Try the process before communicating it
With the project contacts, check the sequence that will be presented: reaching the locker, finding the instructions, accessing the service and identifying the right contact. Operational checks on the platform and hardware follow the agreed launch process.
This trial helps identify missing or contradictory instructions. It does not replace technical testing or the definition of responsibilities.
Review the information after launch
Collect the recurring questions received by the laundry and the host: is the point easy to find? Is access clear? Do people know whom to contact? Distinguish a communication problem from a service condition that needs reviewing.
Update the information across the channels in use and assign someone to maintain it. Opening the point begins an ongoing process; customer growth needs to be observed in the real setting, rather than treated as an automatic result of installation.
